NRTWC Gets It Wrong On The Employee Free Choice Act

In a new ad attacking Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the National Right to Work Committee (NRTWC) reveals that it is more concerned about helping big business than protecting the rights of hardworking Americans. The NRWC levels several false charges against the Employee Free Choice Act, including that "workers would lose their right to secret ballot elections," while being targeted with "lies, intimidation, threats, and worse," and that workers and small businesses would be forced to acquiesce to "big labor control in the blink of an eye" — an action we "literally cannot afford." In reality, the Employee Free Choice Act would expand the rights of workers while keeping intact the secret-ballot option and limiting the clout of union management. Furthermore, the bill would actually benefit small businesses by reducing the likelihood of business closures and encouraging local spending through increased wages for workers.

NRCC Targets Heck In Its Ongoing War On The Facts

The National Republican Congressional Committee pulls out all the stops in a newly released ad attacking Washington House candidate Denny Heck (D), hitting three major Democratic initiatives — the Recovery Act, health care reform and clean energy legislation — in under a minute. The NRCC isn't telling voters this, but the Affordable Care Act actually strengthens Medicare without reducing seniors' benefits, and the Recovery Act, rather than exploding the debt — that's a Bush-era legacy — has created millions of jobs and spurred economic growth. Additionally, had clean energy legislation been enacted into law, millions of American jobs would have been created while costing taxpayers only pennies a day.

The Facts Trample All Over AAN's Bogus Attack On Murray

American Action Network's latest ad attempts to parody Washington Senator Patty Murray's persona as a "mom in tennis shoes" by portraying "Murray" — wearing tennis shoes — walking on the backs of her constituents. AAN claims that Murray is trampling over taxpayers by voting for "the largest tax increase in history" and "promising" to raise taxes on small businesses. However, the "largest tax increase" that AAN cites wasn't even close to being the largest in American history. Likewise, the "huge tax hike on small businesses" AAN claims Murray supports is actually the elimination of the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, which would have no effect on 97% of the nation's small business owners.

American Crossroads Falsely Blames Sen. Murray For The Debt In New Attack

American Crossroads has released a new attack ad against Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), attempting to blame her for the size of the debt and accusing her of wanting to raise taxes. In reality, annual deficits exploded because of Bush-era policies, including tax breaks for the rich that Murray opposed. Furthermore, the Democratic tax plan would extend tax cuts for about 97 percent of Americans, while saving the country $700 billion by ending giveaways for millionaires.

American Future Fund Trying To "Trick" Voters In 5 States With New Attack Ad

The American Future Fund's new ad, "Trick", attacks Reps. Baron Hill (D-IN), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD), Chet Edwards (D-TX), and Denny Heck (D-WA) for supposedly deceiving voters on their voting records. But the ad is a smoke-and-mirrors act that makes the facts about health care reform disappear. Contrary to AFF's insinuations, the Affordable Care Act does not cut $500 billion from Medicare, but strengthens the program. The national debt ballooned because of the Bush tax cuts and the economic downturn, and the Affordable Care Act cuts hundreds of billions off the deficit.

Rep. Hastings Proposes A Return To Bush's Failed Energy Policies

Last week, Rep. Rep. Rodgers Uses Personal Story To Supplement Luntz Talking Point On Health Care

In a June 5, 2009 blog post at The Hill titled, "Protecting Your Personal Health," Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers used her personal story as a mother to make a talking point from GOP pollster Frank Luntz resonate. But as a member of Congress, Rep. Rodgers enjoys the kind of health care other families can only dream of. Once again, a Republican member of Congress offers empty words and no solutions on health care.

Rep. Hastings Omits The GOP's Fiscal Failures In Order To Blame President Obama For Budget Deficit

On May 28, 2009, Rep. Doc Hastings released the text of a speech he gave in his district the day before. In it, he claimed Republicans drove down the budget deficit and "President Obama has thrown that record out the window" - and justifies this wholly untrue claim by pretending Republicans were model stewards of the federal budget.
