Angle Ad Smears Sen. Reid Using GOP "Gotcha" Amendment On Viagra For Sex Offenders

At the start of her new ad "Big Clue," Sharron Angle tells us she personally approves the message that follows. She shouldn't have. The ad is as disgusting as it is predictable. After launching two tired attacks (on the stimulus, which actually did work, and on Reid's support for immigration reform) Angle drops the big one: Harry Reid wants to give Viagra to "convicted child molesters and sex offenders." If that seems crazy, stupid, or offensive, that's because it's all three: Republicans carefully set up these attacks during the health care debate when Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) forced a vote on an amendment preventing states from providing Viagra to sex offenders. Their attempt to derail the landmark Affordable Care Act failed. This smear should too.

Americans For New Leadership Repeats Medicare Lie In Attack On Sen. Reid

Americans for New Leadership, a 527 group founded by Tea Party activist Eric Odom, is raising money to get their "Harry Reid Is Wrong For Nevada" ad on the air. The ad accuses Reid of supporting a "$500 billion Medicare cut" that simply doesn't exist in the Affordable Care Act, and implies that Reid's support for the Recovery Act, clean energy legislation and the unpopular TARP rescue package prove that Reid is "Wrong for Nevada." In reality, Congress' response to the economic crisis pulled us back from the brink, and clean energy laws would strengthen the economy further.

Ad Check: Sharron Angle Is Not In "Love" With The Facts

Sharron Angle has released a new campaign ad, titled "Love Triangle," attacking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama. The ad blames the Democrats for the bank bailout, claims the Recovery Act "failed," and suggests that progressive economic policies are responsible for "record deficits and skyrocketing unemployment." In reality, the bailout, deficits and job losses date back to the Bush administration, and the Recovery Act has improved the dismal economic situation that was created by Republicans.
