It's A "Challenge" To Find The Truth In The NRSC's Attack On Sen. Bennet
The NRSC has a pattern of ignoring the facts in its ads attacking Democratic senators, but the group's latest attack on Sen. Michael Bennet (CO) really takes the cake. In the ad, the NRSC highlights unflattering quotes about Bennet from a recent editorial in the Denver Post. However, the NRSC fails to mention that these quotes were taken from the Post's endorsement of Bennet. While the NRSC criticizes Bennet for "helping to stick future generations with trillions in debt," the Post endorsement cites Bennet as a potential leader of a "bipartisan coalition" of senators who "can finally begin tackling the nation's burdensome debt" — the debt that is largely the result of Bush-era policies. Likewise, while the NRSC further criticizes Bennet for "lavishing billions on corporate bailouts and takeovers," the reality is that Bennet was not even in office when the major "bailout" — TARP — was passed, and has, in fact, authored legislation that reduced the size of the program.

Affordable And Quality Health Care For Colorado's Seniors
The Affordable Care Act delivers comprehensive health care reform to nearly half a million seniors in Colorado. The law improves the quality and scope of health care by closing Medicare's prescription drug benefits gap; empowers seniors to stay in their homes and still receive long-term care services; guarantees comprehensive preventive care coverage; and eliminates insurance company loopholes that have been used to deny coverage. By slashing government waste, fraud, and abuse within the Medicare and Medicaid system, the law not only saves taxpayer dollars but also provides seniors with better coverage.

American Action Network Continues To Lie About Rep. Perlmutter
Norm Coleman's American Action Network is taking one of its most fallacious attack ads to Colorado. The ad accuses Rep. Earl Perlmutter (D) of having voted to give convicted sex offenders access to free Viagra. Not only did Perlmutter do no such thing, but the issue being raised in the ad concerns the Senate, not the House, where Perlmutter serves. In reality, an amendment that would have forbidden access to Viagra for sex offenders was only introduced in the Senate and was widely regarded as a slick political ploy on the part of Republican Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) to defeat health care reform.

NRCC's Attack On Rep. Salazar Falls Flat
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) resorts to stale attacks on fiscal policy and health care reform in its new ad aimed at Rep. John Salazar (D-CO). In addition to claiming the stimulus bill "failed" when, in fact, it saved millions of jobs and stabilized the economy, the ad misrepresents the Affordable Care Act as "the government takeover of health care." Moreover, the ad criticizes Salazar for "raising the national debt limit" — an action that was necessary to prevent the U.S. from entering into default.

First Amendment Alliance "Rubber Stamps" Recovery Act Falsehoods
The First Amendment Alliance targets Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in their latest ad, dredging up tired attacks on obscure stimulus projects to claim he is just "another rubber stamp liberal." The ad criticizes projects involving monkeys and "exotic ants" that were funded by the Recovery Act — though specific projects such as these were not included in the text of the bill supported by Bennet — citing them as evidence of the Recovery Act's "reckless" spending. However, the stimulus's so-called "reckless" spending was integral to reviving the flailing economy and creating new jobs — including the 16 created studying those "exotic ants."

AAN Wants Voters To "Remember" Their Lies About Health Care
The American Action Network released an ad that tries to discredit the health care reform bill and urges Reps. Perlmutter (D-CO) and Schauer (D-MI) to vote for repeal of the bill. Not only does the ad muddle several facts about the bill, it also misleads voters into believing that the bill includes certain harmful provisions that, in fact, do not exist. These non-existent provisions include expanding health care reform to undocumented immigrants and billions in cuts to Medicare. Both of these claims are complete lies.

The Benefits Of Health Care Reform For Minorities In Colorado
With all the confusion around the passage of the new health care law, many of the benefits have been lost in the mix. Until President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act, racial and ethnic minorities were often left out in the cold when it came to accessing affordable, effective, and high quality health care. The Affordable Care Act narrows the disparities in the health care system for minority groups by guaranteeing access to health services.

The NRCC Continues To Lead Voters In The Wrong Direction
The National Republican Congressional Committee's latest round of deceptive advertising features a stunningly misleading attack on Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO). The NRCC claims that Markey has teamed with Nancy Pelosi to take the country "in the absolute wrong direction" by supporting "out of control spending" and a "government takeover of health care." However it's the NRCC that is leading Colorado voters in the "wrong direction," not Betsy Markey. In fact, she has supported economic policies that lead the country in the right direction, by creating jobs and staving off an economic depression.

First Senate Conservatives Fund Ad Offers Nothing But Tired Old Falsehoods
The Senate Conservatives Fund, a leadership PAC headed by Sen. Jim DeMint and dedicated to attacking DeMint's Democratic colleagues, has delivered its first ad to the airwaves. With wording bizarrely similar to a Club for Growth ad going after Rep. John Spratt (D-SC), this ad attacks Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) over the national debt, health care reform, and the auto "bailouts." Despite the Senate Conservatives Fund's suggestion to the contrary, the national debt is a Republican legacy; the Affordable Care Act reduces the deficit and creates jobs; and the car company "bailouts" were necessary to prevent further economic catastrophe.
