A weekly roundup of what House Republicans are and aren't doing with their committees.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, is calling for hearings on executive pay after a report released this week showed that "twenty-five of the highest-paid chief executive officers in the United States made more money last year than their companies paid in taxes." Will Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), the second-wealthiest member of Congress, accommodate his request?

Over 100 people protested outside Issa's Vista, CA offices Thursday. The Courage Campaign was there, and observed that the protestors were represented by a wide variety of organizations and interests who are threatened by Issa's agenda, including members of the San Diego Labor Council, Machinists Union, California Nurses Association, National Associations of Letter Carriers and the California Alliance for Retired Americans.

Oversight Republican Ann Marie Buerkle (NY) said her constituents "aren't interested in solving problems" after her appearance at a town hall meeting was met with many voters who disapprove of her job performance in Washington.

A Pew Research Center poll published this week found among other things that a majority of Muslim-Americans feel "targeted" by government anti-terror efforts. Rep. Peter King (R-NY) responded to the poll by stressing the need for more hearings investigating the Muslim community.
