J Street Fights Right-Wing Attacks On Sestak

July 21, 2010 5:41 pm ET — MJ Rosenberg

The Emergency Committee for Israel is a new right-wing organization established by Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol and other neoconservatives to smear Democrats as anti-Israel.  The committee is already running a spot in Pennsylvania which claims that Rep. Joe Sestak, the Democratic nominee for Senate and a retired admiral, is both anti-Israel and pro-terrorist.  The ad is laughable but, in these times, who can say whether it will have an effect?

That is why J Street — the pro-peace, pro-Israel organization — is now running its own ads to rebut the Sestak smears.  Not only is it utterly convincing about Sestak's pro-Israel record, it also addresses an issue the Emergency Committee ignores in its Sestak-bashing ad: Sestak supports Middle East policies that are good for America and are supported by most Americans.

That is the two-state solution.  The Emergency Committee isn't interested in solutions, unless one supposes that the solution to all problems is defeating Democrats.
