GOP Lie:

"This bill is a government takeover of health care"

PolitiFact: Republicans are "wrong that Obama's plan offers government-run health care."

GOP Lie:

"We can't afford this bill; it will add trillions to the national debt"

The Truth:

CBO: Health care reform would reduce the deficit by $138 billion by 2019 and cuts the deficit by $1.3 TRILLION over 20 years.

GOP Lie:

"This bill allows taxpayer funding for abortion"

The Truth:

PolitiFact: "No federal funds - whether through tax credits or cost-sharing credits - could be used to pay for abortions."

GOP Lie:

"Democrats are abusing procedural rules to jam this bill down Americans' throats"

The Truth:

Marc Ambinder on Self-Executing Rules: "They ARE taking an up or down vote on the senate health care bill. They're just doing it AT THE SAME TIME as they're passing the reconciliation language."

The Truth:

Health care reform already passed the Senate with 60 votes under normal procedural rules.

GOP Lie:

"This bill is a job killer"

The Truth:

CAP: Health care reform will create up to 4 million American jobs in the next decade.

GOP Lie:

"This bill will cause Americans' premiums to shoot through the roof"

The Truth:

ABC News: For "Americans who get their insurance from their employers, CBO says premiums would be 'zero to three percent' lower."

The Truth:

PolitiFact: "For most people, premiums would stay about the same, or slightly decrease."
