Rep. Steve King: Congress Should "Publicly Humiliate" White House On Immigration Policy

August 26, 2011 10:25 am ET — Alan Pyke

Echoing Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith's (R-TX) call for hearings to "embarrass the president" for initiating a sweeping review of deportation cases, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told Human Events that Congress should seek to "publicly humiliate" the administration over immigration policy.

King said that "we can hold hearings and bring them forward to publicly humiliate them until they become politically vulnerable, and at that point, Obama might withdraw such a position." According the the right-wing website, King described Obama's position as "advertising to potential illegal aliens in foreign countries to come here to America, and if it's not convenient to you, you will not be deported."
