Pretending To Answer Constituents, Reps Issa. & McCarthy Respond To Heritage Foundation Instead

In one of the new GOP "listening" gimmicks this year, some Republicans set out to film video responses to questions and comments on Twitter. Reps. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Peter Roskam (R-IL) all posted responses in the hours following the 2011 State of the Union address.

But they hit a glitch. Both Issa and McCarthy responded to an identical Tweet (sitting in the same chair, no less): "After $800 billion in stimulus spending, $14.06 trillion deficit, we have 20 months of near double digit unemployment." But the tweet was originally posted by the Heritage Foundation, meaning that instead of admirably trying to respond to their constituents' tweets in real time they were responding to messages from the GOP's favorite think tank and message machine.
