Forgetful Steele Praises President Obama's Handling Of The War

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is widely expected to lose his bid for reelection this month, thanks largely to the RNC's financial woes and his own long list of public gaffes.

Last summer, Steele infamously — and incorrectly — described the Afghanistan war as a "war of Obama's choosing," adding that "the one thing you don't do is engage in a land war in Afghanistan." Although he eventually backtracked, Steele's remarks were the final straw for many prominent conservatives, and may have sealed his fate.

During today's RNC debate, though, Steele appeared to forget about his fleeting foray into anti-war commentary. When the candidates were asked to identify one thing President Obama has done right, Steele replied:

"I think his effort to prosecute, with Republicans' help, the war."
