Conservative Group Outraged Over Casting Of Black Actor In Thor

The Council of Conservative Citizens, a St. Louis-based white supremacist group that "oppose[s] the massive immigration of non-European and non-Western peoples into the United States that threatens to transform our nation into a non-European majority in our lifetime," is calling for the boycott of Thor, a superhero flick set to be released next year. The group is upset that Idris Elba, a black actor, will play the role of mythical Nordic deity Heimdall.

Norse mythology gets multi-cultural remake in upcoming movie titled "Thor," Marvel studios. It's not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives [sic] values, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin.

It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. An upcoming movie, based on the comic book Thor, will give the Aesir an insulting multi-cultural make-over. One of the Gods will be played by Hip Hop DJ Elba.

The group has even set up a website, boycott-thor.com, to further its efforts. The group accuses Marvel Studios, the company behind the movie and the comic book on which it is based, of having a history of "explicit [sic] pro-black" and "viciously anti-white" cartoons.

Suffice it to say that the group's complaints against the film aren't entirely over historical accuracy. Despite its stated platform, the group isn't just a nativist site concerned with American identity or the rule of law. In fact, much of the content on its site is devoted to highlighting international stories to suggest that non-whites are inherently uncivilized. For instance, here is a post about Haiti from last month that was tagged under "Black rule."

The group also has ties to Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, which is leading the effort to preserve Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
