Why Does C-SPAN Feature Viciously Anti-Israel Michael Scheuer After He Called For Another 9/11 Attack?
Former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer really, really hates Israel. No, he is not opposed to its policies. He seems to hate the whole idea of Israelis (and Palestinians too) and, as in days of yore, blames Israel and Jews for his, and the world's, misfortunes.
Here is what he said on C-SPAN this morning in an interview with Bill Scanlan:
Scheuer: Yeah. I think that American foreign policy is ultimately up to the American people. One of the big things we have not been able to discuss for the past 30 years is the Israelis. Whether we want to be involved in fighting Israel's wars in the future is something that Americans should be able to talk about. They may vote yes. They may want to see their kids killed in Iraq or Yemen or somewhere else to defend Israel. But the question is: we need to talk about it. Ultimately Israel is a country that is of no particular worth to the United States.
Scanlan: You mean strategically?
Scheuer: Strategically. They have no resources we need. Their manpower is minimal.
And even uglier is an isolationist screed he wrote for National Journal. In this one he calls Israel a "cancer" and says that we'd all be better off if Israelis and Palestinians fought each other "to the death."
Israel is not only an unnecessary and self-made liability for the United States, it is an untreated and spreading cancer on our domestic politics, foreign policy, and national security. America has no genuine national security interests at stake in either Israel or Palestine; if they both disappeared tomorrow the welfare of Americans and the security of their country would not be impacted a lick. The Arab-Israeli religious war is a war that properly belongs solely to Israelis and Arabs; let them fight each other to the death with no interference in favor of either side from the United States. [emphasis added]
I don't know what his problem is, although I think between Scheuer's beard and his Jewish last name he often gets mistaken for being a Member of the Tribe and it drives him crazy.
What drives me crazy is that Scheuer still has any platform, let alone C-SPAN, after telling a very sympathetic Glenn Beck that the only thing that will save America from the evils of liberalism is another cleansing catastrophic terror attack.
Imagine if someone on the left said that. But it's okay for Beck and Scheuer to lick their chops over another attack here. The only difference: Beck wouldn't blame the Jews. He'd blame Obama; Scheuer would blame the Jews and Obama. And they would both take a victory lap.
