Gov. Rick Perry: Al Gore's "Gone To Hell"
Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a former Democrat and ally of Vice President Al Gore, was in Dallas yesterday to get the endorsement of local construction groups.
After Perry brought up the issue of climate change, and falsely claimed that proposed legislation to curb emissions would hurt future generations, a reporter for The Dallas Morning News, asked Perry about his relationship with Gore (In 1988, Perry served as head of Gore's presidential campaign in Texas). Perry responded that he himself had seen the light on the issue, whereas Gore had "gone to hell." The remark drew applause from the crowd.
This is not the first time that Perry has taken a jab at Gore. In October, the Austin American-Statesman reported that Perry had said, "I've heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I'm starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide."
