Rep. Cantor Feigns Outrage Over Democrats' Press Conference
Today, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held a press conference outside the Capitol to unveil the final draft of the House Democrats' health care reform bill.
Shortly after the press conference, Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) appeared on Fox News to criticize the Democrats' plan. However, the congressman seemed strangely preoccupied with the logistics of the press conference, as opposed to the bill itself, twice complaining that the event wasn't open to the public. Watch:
It was a press conference. Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN all covered it live. Are we to believe that the American people were somehow wronged here?
Of course not.
More likely, Cantor is just upset that the "about 10 Tea Partiers" who showed up to heckle Pelosi weren't allowed close enough to make a scene. Far-right blogger Erick Erickson, who was expecting a "flash mob" of protestors, is similarly outraged.
If nothing else, this is a reminder that Cantor's willingness to attack Democrats, even for trivial, made-up transgressions, knows no shame.
