Rabin-Havt: "Fox News is legitimizing and spreading the paranoia of the lunatic fringe."

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Media Matters Action Network announced the launch of SmearBuster.org, a new website fighting back against the right-wing smear machine's progressive witch hunt.  Oozing with desperation, conservatives in the media and on Capitol Hill have resorted to spouting fringe-inspired lies and paranoid conspiracy theories in their ongoing vendetta against high-profile progressives.

Conservatives have launched a war against progressives such as Cass Sunstein, Carol Browner, Mark Lloyd, John Holdren and Van Jones. Through SmearBuster.org, Media Matters Action Network will expose the false smears spread by conservatives attempting to halt progressive change.

"Fox News is legitimizing and spreading the paranoia of the lunatic fringe," Media Matters Action Network Managing Director Ari Rabin-Havt said. "Our mission is to confront misinformation at its source; and more often than not, the source is Glenn Beck."

A prosperous America requires a well-informed population participating in the democratic process, not a citizenry paralyzed with the fear instilled in them by egomaniacal television personalities and radio hosts.

"Glenn Beck's Fox News and his minions are targeting high-profile progressives.  SmearBuster.org will fight back against their preposterous lies," Rabin-Havt added.

Earlier this month, Media Matters Action Network launched EmailChecker.org to counter conservative misinformation gone viral.  EmailChecker.org provides users with ready-made responses to the most common and most egregious email smears.
