WASHINGTON, D.C. - Media Matters Action Network announced the launch of EmailChecker.org, a new website to counter conservative misinformation gone viral.  Initially focused on health care, EmailChecker.org will provide users with ready-made responses to the most common and most egregious email memes.

"Every day millions of Americans receive emails spreading lies. EmailChecker.org provides a service that enables users to fight back with fact-based responses," Media Matters Action Network Managing Director Ari Rabin-Havt said.

"Our mission is to confront misinformation at its source.  That's why it's important we expand our efforts to include the world of viral email, often the root of the most egregious claims."

In order to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing nature of viral emails, Media Matters Action Network is asking that people send the text of such emails to viral@mediamattersaction.org.
