Rep. Bachmann Befriends Orly Taitz, The Queen Birther

Rep. Bachmann befriends Orly Taitz - THE leader of the "birther" movement.

On her blog, Orly Taitz - THE leader of the "birther" movement - boasted about becoming Facebook friends with Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Unfortunately, this is hardly a surprise. A new poll shows that 58% of Republicans either believe President Obama was born on foreign soil or aren't quite sure.

Politico's Glenn Thrush wrote:

That means a majority of Republicans polled either don't know about -- or don't believe the seemingly incontrovertible evidence Obama's camp has presented over and over and over that he was born in Hawaii in '61.

It also explains why Republicans, including Roy Blunt, are playing footsie with the Birther fringe.

It just goes to show that when a political party has purged all but the most extreme idealouges, it ends up becoming a party of fringe conspiracy theorists.

Of course, the "birthers" are way off base. Check out Media Matters Action Network's "Definitive Birther Takedown."

*UPDATE: Apparently the two are no longer friends on Facebook.  Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
